Mr. C's LATIN TEXTBOOK

Salvete, omnes!

Salvete, discipuli et discipulae! In this textbook, you will learn not only the Latin language, but also Roman culture. As an online resource, this textbook will be constantly updated and ever evolving, with a focus on online resources for learning the Latin language and Roman culture, along with their impact on our world today. Each chapter, we will learn new vocabulary, a new aspect of Latin grammar, and dive into a particular slice of Roman culture.

In this site, you will find scaffolded chapter stories (along with English translation), grammar notes along with YouTube videos which introduce derivatives and explain the grammar for each chapter, note sheets and visuals for each culture unit that we cover throughout the year, along with many other useful tools to help you succeed!

To start your journey into the world of Ancient Rome, look at the map below and watching the YouTube video to get a sense of the Roman empire at its height. It stretched from Britain and Scotland in the north to Egypt and North Africa in the south and from Spain in the west all the way to the Tigris and Euphrates rivers in the east. It was a truly expansive and diverse empire and had a major impact on all cultures and countries that lived within its borders! We will be jumping all across the Mediterranean this year as we explore Roman life.
